Various activities occur year round in Golden BC. Summer fun is festive with whitewater rafting, backcountry hiking and hang gliding from Mount 7.
Golden BC - Hang gliding
Various operations exist which offer training and tandem runs for the novice hang glider. The drive up to Mount 7, on the newly named Bowle-Evans Drive, takes you to the top of Mount Seven where you can use the platform for take off, or simply run off the edge to enjoyment of hours of gliding the thermals with stunning views of the valley below and mountains in the distance.
Golden BC - Mountain biking
Mountain biking trails on Mount 7, Dawn Mountain Trail System and Moonraker Trails provide excellent access to bikers. Kicking Horse Mountain has opened up its trails to bikers with uphill lift on the gondola system before the big descent.
Golden BC - Whitewater Rafting
Raft the Kicking Horse this year! Various tour operators are available to help you find your way down the Kicking Horse with a rush. Generally you must meet them at the orientation point to get geared up and then shuttled off to the departure point. They will provide you with an interpretative tour of the mountains and general area during the drifting points as well as educate you on the do’s and don’t of Whitewater Rafting in Golden.
Golden Canada
Golden Canada has accommodations for everyone from Bed and Breakfasts to self accommodating homes and condos, boutique hotels and more.
If you want to stay in the backcountry, lodges abound that provide the comforts of home in the middle of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and Purcells. Close to the forest, where access to hiking or cross country skiing can just be a step outside your door, the backcountry doesn’t get any closer!
